Late last year we welcomed @maedstudio_ to The Stonewater. The deal? Stay for free, enjoy courtesy spa time, drink as much coffee as you want, in exchange for painting murals on our trailers. The results were awesome – our trailers have never looked better and we got to make some new friends (love you @maedstudio_). This got me thinking: What if the good times didn’t have to stop? What if there was a way we could support more artists and their work while also beautifying The Stonewater? Introducing: The Stonewater Artist in Residence! Basically the deal is you get to come stay out here for free and in turn you get to lead the way on a project from our project wish-list – painting birdhouses, souping up our on-site truck, painting a mural on our office wall, making tiny dioramas in the woods for people to fine, bedazzling our lampshades, or whatever else you want to pitch us. In October 2023, we were working on the final sketches of The Stonewater could be while visiting the grounds. By February 2024, we had bought the motel and moved in. By May 2024, our sketches had come to life. Today, we’re looking back on a record-smashing year for this 20+ year old property, and have a lot of people to thank. To the guests: you’ve all been incredible. We made this for you, and watching you enjoy it makes us smile. To the community of Pender Harbour & Egmont, you’ve embraced us and helped us from day one. To the writers and influencers who’ve shared our property to the world, thank you for sharing this place through your eyes and your words. To our mentors, advisors, staff, and contractors, thank you for your expertise in helping us get this place right - a special shout out to our respective partners, @alyssamcdo & @romy_leah on this front ❤️! To the broader business community of the Sunshine Coast, thank you for being so collaborative and excited about what we’re doing here.
